We finally made it into our hotel, and bit into our donuts. Sinking my teeth into the most amazingly light, fluffy donut I had ever tasted was a dream come true. It was a transient feeling, for I immediately had to begin to get ready for my first trip into London. It was an exciting prospect, so exciting in fact that neither Bella nor I had paid much attention to the weather. We exited the hotel dressed in capris, tees, and sweaters.
“It looks like rain!” the concierge called after us.
“Oh, we’re from Seattle. We can handle rain!”
Twenty minutes down the road, drenched and searching for umbrellas Bella and I regretted our choice of clothing. Of course, we were in London, so we were happy nonetheless sifting through the racks of cheap umbrellas. Finally we settled on two chintzy black umbrellas that, naturally, broke immediately after leaving the store. We continued through a quaint little park, and at the other end, were accosted by streets and streets of stores with no idea that we had arrived at the famed shopping district: Oxford Circus. It was spectacular, and we commenced our shopping, but with one look at the prices quickly realized we weren’t going to be doing much purchasing.
